My name is Jose Luis Rodil Carballido. I was born on April 19, 1968 in Lugo (Spain). From an early age I have passion for drawing and painting, participating in different art contest for children.
In 1996 I entered the School of Arts "Ramon Falcon" in Lugo and I studied wood carving.
My pictorial formation is basically autodidactic.
For years I worked on commission for the art gallery Acuarela in Lugo, performing art works in all kinds of techniques (mostly portraits).
At Christmas 1999 I participated in my first collective exhibition in the art gallery Acuarela. Then followed two individual exhibitions in the same gallerie and another in the cafeteria Ciros, Lugo (between 2002 and 2004).
In 2002 I was commissioned to paint a series of fifteen oil portraits of all the mayors of Rábade (Lugo) since its separation in 1925 of Begonte. They are part of a permanent exhibition in the Town Hall.
One of my paintings is part of the collection of the IES Lucus Augusti of Lugo.
Since 2006 I live in Basel (Switzerland). Here I have made numerous private commissions.
On July 12th I will celebrate my first solo exhibition in this country, at the Galerie Rosshof in Basel.
With my painting I just try to reflect what I see. I also try to transmit to the viewer the same feelings that what I've painted transmited to me.
